Whether you are seeking relief from painful memories, struggling with anxiety, feeling stuck in old patterns, or looking to create meaningful change, EMDR and hypnosis offer powerful tools for healing and transformation.

My approach combines evidence-based practices with compassion, creativity, and over 20 years of clinical experience to help you move toward greater freedom, resilience, and well-being.

My Experience

Hello, I'm Kate Jiggins--founder of Columbus EMDR and Hypnosis. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S), Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor Clinical Supervisor (LICDC-CS), EMDR Certified Therapist, clinical trainer, speaker, author, and host of the Living Big Mindfully Podcast.

Since opening my private practice in 2013, I have helped thousands of people navigate trauma, anxiety, grief, addiction recovery, life transitions, and personal growth.

My work is grounded in science, informed by experience, and inspired by the belief that healing happens when we honor both the mind, the body, and the deeper wisdom within each person.

Through Columbus EMDR and Hypnosis, I offer a specialized approach that integrates EMDR, Ericksonian hypnosis, and strengths-based therapy to support healing and sustainable change.

My Philosophy

I believe people are resilient, not broken.

Your past may influence your story, but it does not have to define your future. Through EMDR, hypnosis, and compassionate care, my goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths, access your capacity for healing, and discover what is possible when old limitations no longer hold you back.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help people process and heal from distressing experiences.

When difficult experiences overwhelm our ability to cope, they can become "stuck" in the nervous system. These unresolved memories may continue to influence thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors long after the event has passed.

EMDR helps the brain naturally reprocess these experiences, reducing emotional distress and allowing healthier perspectives to emerge. EMDR is commonly used for:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Grief and loss
  • Childhood experiences
  • Performance concerns
  • Stress-related symptoms
  • Negative self-beliefs

Many clients find that EMDR helps them feel less reactive, more resilient, and more connected to their present lives.

What is Hypnosis?

Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical hypnosis is a collaborative process that uses focused attention and therapeutic suggestion to support positive change.

Despite common misconceptions, hypnosis is not mind control or unconsciousness. Most people describe hypnosis as a state of focused awareness similar to becoming absorbed in a book, movie, meditation, or daydream.

In hypnosis, clients remain aware, in control, and actively engaged throughout the process.

Clinical hypnosis may help with:

  • Anxiety and stress reduction
  • Confidence and performance
  • Habit change
  • Emotional regulation
  • Pain management
  • Sleep improvement
  • Accessing inner strengths and resources

Hypnosis--specifically Ericksonian Hypnosis--allows us to work with the imagination, emotions, and unconscious patterns that often influence behavior and healing.

Why EMDR and Hypnosis Together?

A Powerful Integration

Both EMDR and hypnosis help individuals access and work with experiences that exist beyond conscious, logical thinking.

When thoughtfully integrated, hypnosis can enhance many aspects of the EMDR process by helping clients:

  • Develop stronger internal resources
  • Increase feelings of safety and calm
  • Improve emotional regulation
  • Strengthen focus and attention
  • Access personal strengths and resilience
  • Deepen self-compassion
  • Enhance readiness for trauma processing

This integrative approach creates a flexible and individualized treatment experience that honors each person's unique needs, strengths, and goals.

The goal is not simply symptom reduction—but helping people reconnect with their own capacity for healing and growth.
